From your question, it sounds like you are referring to the activation of your brakes themselves on your 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500.
If you are referring to the brakes themselves, you simply need a 7-way wiring harness and a brake controller. Since it looks like your vehicle comes prepped with a 7-way already, that wiring preps your vehicle for the controller. I recommend the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 or the Curt Echo # C51180. Both of these controllers are proportional controllers which means that the controller activates the trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. The Voyager is more of a traditional-style controller that requires mounting into the dashboard of your vehicle near the steering wheel. If you decide to go with the Voyager, you need the plug-in harness # 3015-P. On the other hand, the Curt Echo allows you to control the settings of your controller with the ease of your Smart device.
