Why Won't the Mounting Bracket on My Curt Hitch # C13293 Fit My 2020 GMC Acadia?
Question:
I am having difficulty installing a 13293 on my 2020 Acadia. Everything worked perfectly until installing the hitch. Wires went thru holes easily and then thru hitch fine. The problem is that the passenger side went straight up and on, but the drivers side does not. I have put a floor jack under it and before it is in place to put the nuts on, it starts to raise the cars rear end. What could be the problems. I am a retired collision center manager from 25 years, and understand the vehicle completely. Have you had fit problems where the angle on the welded end is not quite correct?

I'm sorry to hear about your hitch! Given that your vehicle is a non-AT4 model 2020 GMC Acadia, one of the common issues people have with hitches is bending/bowing of the hitch during delivery. If the angle on the welded end of the driver's-side brackets does not match the frame rail, it does indeed sound like an issue with bending/bowing of the Curt Trailer Hitch - 2" # C13293.
While we have not heard of the # C13293 not fitting your vehicle, bending/bowing is more common than people think. Fortunately, there are ways to rectify the angle to get the shape back to its original position. Methods to shift the hitch back into place include using a table vice, finding an open step, using the floor, bending the hitch against a wall, using the vehicle's frame, or using a jack. I went ahead and attached an article that outlines these techniques.
