Will the Jack-It 2 Bike Rack for A-Frame Trailers Clear the Hatch On An SUV
Question:
I tow an R Pod 179 with my 2014 Toyota 4 Runner. Will the rear cargo hatch open with this device? Please suggest alternative options, noting also that I now have a battery system on the Aframe with two 6 volt batteries. Thanks!

Expert Reply:
The Jack-It 2 Bike Rack for A-Frame Trailers part # LC429756 mounts to the same flange as the trailer jack so as long as your jack does not hit the hatch while open then the bike rack should not either. That said, there are too many variables for us to determine this for any one vehicle so you have to test for yourself. A good way to ensure you do have clearance is to use an extended ball mount like the Curt Multi-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount part # D900 which will give you more room.
In regards to the batteries, you may need to shift some things around for the bike rack so just keep this in mind.
