Can I put a 3 inch channel, straight tongue trailer coupler on a 2 inch channel? I’ve been looking to upgrade my coupler to a Bulldog, collar-lok coupler. However, I can’t one to fit. Thanks!

Usually you want to have a coupler that fits the exact channel size on your trailer tongue but you should still be able to get a coupler designed for a 3" channel, like the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler w/ Pin # BD028244, to fit your 2" trailer tongue by welding on some shims to take up the extra 1/2" on either side of your tongue. I recommend having a professional welder do this for you so they will know how to get the welds exactly right for this type of application.

You will want to use a coupler made to fit on a round tube rather than a square one. We have several options such as #BD028242 or #BD028383. However, these couplers do not have an exact 2 inch measurement so you may need to have some fabrication done…

Seal 171255UC has an inner diameter of 1.719 inches and outer diameter of 2.565 inches. A seal that has those dimensions would actually be #58846. I've added a link to a video review of this seal for you to take a look at.
