Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Hitch for 9000 lb GVWR Travel Trailer
Question:
how much does the EQ37120ET weigh? Ive ordered a 2022 Grand Design Imagine 2970 with a GVW of 9,000 pounds and an empty hitch weight of 751 pounds. Im adding a 2nd air conditioner the two propane tanks, 1-2 batteries, and possible this hitch system 1,200 or the next size down or next size up. Im thinking with the camper loaded and estimating around 1,300 pounds hitch rough idea, that the 1,200 would be best for the days when its full or nearly empty. Im trying to avoid something two bouncy and something too light. Weight is very key since Im pulling this 34foot trailer with my Ford F150. Thoughts? David Barnes

The Equal-i-zer # EQ37120ET weight distribution system weighs in at right around 100 lbs minus its shipping packaging which is pretty typical for a weight distribution/sway control system. When determining which system is needed, you do not need to include the weight of the system itself as that's built in to the capacity of the system.
This particular kit is rated for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 800-1200 lbs. To determine which system is right for your needs, you'll need to determine the tongue weight of the trailer when it's fully loaded up as you would normally tow it. To that figure, you'll also want to add the weight of any cargo carried in the truck bed behind the rear axle. I'll link to an article that goes over a few ways to do this, but the easiest way is to use a tongue weight scale, like # e99044.
If your tongue weight is greater than 1200 lbs, you'll want to use the next highest rated system, which is part # EQ37140ET for a 1400 lb rated system which is good for 1000-1400 lbs of tongue weight.
To choose the right system, finding the actual as-towed tongue weight is crucial to avoid ending up with a system that won't work right for you.
I've linked to a product video for the tongue weight scale and the Equal-i-zer weight distribution systems.
