Can I Put A Roof Rack On My 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan With A Crossbar Spread Of At Least 1,000 MM

Question:

What is the maximum spread for these cross bars to be installed on a 2018 Tiguan with raised rails that run front to back? The roof tent I am looking at requires a spread of between 38.5 and 42 inches about 980-1065mm. The side rails are about 1100 mm long. I cant find any information on the spread of these cross bars. The only information I did find was that VW OEM cross bars are supposed to be installed with 25 mm distance from the front end and with a spread of 750 mm. Is there any reason not to extend the spread to about 1000 mm? Thank you.

I do have an option that will allow you to have at least a 38-1/2" crossbar spread. Your roof rack will consist of the following items:

Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Silver - 53" Long - Qty 2, part # TH711400
Evo Raised Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars - Factory Raised Rails - Qty 4, part # TH710401
Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders - Qty 4, part # TH450400

According to Thule this roof rack has a maximum crossbar spread of 48". This roof rack has a weight limit of 165 lbs. I included the Thule One Key System Lock Cylinders so you can secure your roof rack to your vehicle.

I did some research and I found out that your Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails - Aluminum - 50" Long, part # MPG215, crossbars can only be 27-1/2" apart.

I have included a product description link, a video installation link, and a video review link below.
