While your 2021 Ford Bronco Sport has a 2" hitch receiver, it is Class II. This is unusual. Class II hitch receivers are usually 1-1/4". If you have a ball mount, like the Curt Fusion Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 2" Ball - 2-1/4" Rise - 7,500 lbs, part # C45155, you should not have to hit a hammer to get the ball mount to fit your hitch receiver. If you feel that the welds are a product defect, you can file them down to help your ball mount get installed smoothly. In addition, sometimes the Ford hitch receivers have excess paint on them. You can also use the file to remedy as well. Lastly, I would check to see if the ball mount is bumping against the spare tire I also recommend measuring the trailer hitch, inside edge to inside edge, to verify it is a 2" trailer hitch.
