Hitch-mount bike carriers are a good choice since they place no stress on the sheet metal parts of your vehicle, because the hitch that supports them mounts to the vehicle frame.

The link provided will show you all of the 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch receivers for the Impreza. For the non-WRX sedan use Curt # C11317.

Another link will show you all hitch-mount bike carriers compatible with a Class I hitch (but note that you will be limited to 2 bikes due to the weight imposed). You have a choice of both hanging-style and platform-style carriers. You can use the filters on the page to narrow the results to those carriers with the characteristics you most prefer. The rack is lightweight and offers an 90-lbs weight rating for your bikes, gives a full foot of clearance from the hitch pin hole and it is rated for use on RVs and cars. All hitches for your vehicle have a 200-lb tongue weight rating. This means that the weight of your choice of bike carrier plus the weight of your loaded bikes cannot exceed this 200-lb weight limit.
