Recommended Trailer Hitch For A 2018 Ford F-150 With A Factory Hitch
Question:
I would like to replace my OEM F150 hitch with something more robust. Will this Draw Tite DT35MR fit? And will I be able to retain the factory location of the spare tire? I understand that the tire may need to be removed for intstall Thanks!

Expert Reply:
As the Draw-Tite # DT35MR Class V hitch is designed to fit a 2018 Ford F-150 that did not come with a factory hitch, I will have to steer you in a different direction. With that said, the Curt Class IV Hitch # C26HR will fit trucks that came with the factory hitch and will be the better option for you. This will not affect the spare tire stored under your bed, but you are correct in that lowering it is needed for the install.
From looking at the factory hitch on your truck, I don't think it is a simple matter of removal and replacement. The Curt will be the better way to go.
