Parts Needed to Convert 4-Way of 1985 Ford Truck to 7-Way and Install Brake Controller
Question:
Hello, I have a 1985 F150 4wd short-bed manual 4-speed with a granny gear. Its got a 3 lift or so, not sure exactly. I currently have a hitch installed with a working 4-wire plug. I need to install a brake controller for a 2-axle trailer I have that has brakes on one axle. The trailer has a small battery on it and I think a wire that looks like its a runaway switch so if your trailer winds up on its own going down the road it will lock the brakes Can you recommend the wiring that I would need to put a brake controller and a 7-way plug on, preferably one that I could keep the 4-way plug as well.

We have just what you need with the part # ETBC7 which comes with everything needed to convert a 4-way to a 7-way and wire in a brake controller. It also provides a 4-way like you are wanting and can charge a breakaway battery like your trailer has.
Now for a brake controller the Brake EVN # TK63VR is a really great option that uses an inertia sensor to decide how hard to apply the brakes, is very reliable, and is also priced great.
