How to Tell if Longer Thule SquareBar Evo Crossbars Will Fit 2012 Jeep Compass

Question:

can these be used on a 2012 jeep compass latitude with rapid podium and kit 183097 ? I realize your site recommends the 47 inch and I would like to go a bit wider if possible, even if it sticks out a few inches.

It's possible that the 53" Thule SquareBar Evo Crossbars # TH712400 could fit on your 2012 Jeep Compass instead of the normal 47" Crossbars # TH712200 that Thule has verified to fit, but you'll need to measure the mounting locations on the flush rails on your Compass to determine if this will work or not. Since these bars have limited space for the feet to mount on either side it may not be possible.

When everything is put together I was finding about 36-1/2" between the mounting locations for the fit kit when installed on the 53" bars. If the mounting locations on your Compass are 36-1/2" apart or more then the 53" bars should work but if that measurement is right at 36-1/2" or less then it won't work. Here is the list for the Thule Square Bar Evo roof rack with the 47" bars:
