Can The G3 Retractable Ratchet Tie-Down Straps Mount On The Vertical Utility Trailer Uprights?

Question:

I see in your photos above that many of the mounting points are on the trailer frame down low. My question is can they be mounted to the vertical angle iron rails near the trailer floor. If they can this would give me about a 45 angle to aim them at the center of the trailer.

You can mount the CargoBuckle G3 Retractable Ratchet Tie-Down Straps # IMF18800 in virtually any position as long as you are able to drill the hole for the 3/8" bolt. Most likely opt to attach the strap to the main frame as it is going to be stronger than the angle iron rails. Since those rails are welded there is a chance of the weld cracking and most trailer manufacturers do not build the side rails of their utility trailers to be a weight bearing structure. That is why I often see trailers with damaged and bent rails.
