5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Options for 2022 Ford F-350 Long Bed & Short Bed With OEM Prep Package
Question:
I am buying a 2022 Ford F-350 but haven't decided what trim level or bed length. Whichever I do decide on though will have the OEM prep package, the puck system. What options do I have for 5th wheel hitches and why would I need one type over the other?

You will want a slide type hitch for the short bed so your 5th wheel does not come in contact with the cab of the tow vehicle when doing those slow speed tighter turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.
My preferred hitch is the B&W. Select the Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # BWRVK3370 for a short bed truck, and the # BWRVK3300 for a fixed type hitch in a long bed truck. I like the 1" thick jaws on the Companion, these are precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection and securely wrap around your trailer's king pin. The cam-action latching handle helps prevent binding, is simple to release, even on unlevel terrain. B&W is noted as having a superior powder coating and is made in USA with materials sourced from the USA.
