For towing with your 2022 Ford Explorer I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e29YR. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and a concealed cross tube. This hitch has a max gross trailer weight of 6,000 lbs and tongue weight of 600 lbs.
It features a bolt on installation and is made in the USA. What sets this hitch apart is the rugged, matte black finish. This protects against rust but also does a better job hiding dirt and scratches compared to a glossy finish.
For wiring, the most reliable option is the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118599. This plugs into existing wiring, providing you with a 4-way connection at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights.
If you need a ball mount, check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference. The hitch installation is for the Curt hitch, but the process is the same.
