Could Hitch Head from B and W Patriot Fit on Companion Hitch
Question:
If I bought a bandw 18k fifth wheel hitch that mounts on standard above bed rails for the truck I have now and later got a new truck with the under bed gooseneck attachment is it possible to purchase a new base that fits in the under bed gooseneck and move my existing 18k head to that base

This is a really good question but unfortunately the Companion and Patriot B and W hitches have a slightly different head so you cannot interchange them. So what you'd need is the Companion fixed hitch part # BWRVK3500 for if you have a long bed and do not need additional turning clearance or the slider version part # BWRVK3400.
This also allows you to be able to sell your old hitch as a complete hitch which would be much easier than just a portion of it.
