Will Malone SteelTop Roof Rack With 65 Inch Crossbars Fit 2009 Ford Escape w/ Raised Side Rails

Question:

Malone MPG203 65 What is preventing the Malone MPG203 65 from working with my 2009 Ford Escape XLT? I see the 50 and the 58 work with this vehicle, so is there something with the product that prevents the 65 from going closer to the center to work with the factory roof rack on the Ford Escape? Thank You

Technically, yes, your 2009 Ford Escape with raised side rails can mount the 65 inch crossbars of the Malone SteelTop Roof Rack # MPG203.

It isn't that the rack won't physically fit; since the feet can be positioned at different points of the square bars, the rack will fit. The issue is the length of the bars. The 65 inch length means they are going to stick out on the side quite a bit, to the point that people who got too close would have to duck or potentially hit their noggin on the crossbars.

That said, if that's something you are okay with, you can go with the Malone SteelTop Roof Rack # MPG203. However, unless you absolutely have to have that amount of length on the crossbars, I do recommend sticking with the size Malone determined is the optimal fit for your '09 Escape, which is the 58 inch crossbars of the Malone SteelTop Roof Rack # MPG202.
