Where Is the Height of the Reese Underbed Rail Adapter and Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter Measured

Question:

This is a follow up question to Connor’s previous answer. I am trying to figure out how high the hitch will mount “above the truck bed.” If you lay this adapter on a flat floor surface and measure from floor to top of adapter is tha distance 2” for Demco and 2.75” for Reese or is that measurement some much more? If not something much more my hitch won’t be raised that 2 for Demco or 2.75 inches above the bed. Thank you.

In regards to the Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Adapter part # RP30156 and Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter part # DM6175, the Reese adapter adds 2-3/4" and the Demco adapter adds 2". This is measured from the top of the bed where the adapter sits to the top of the adapter where the hitch mounts. Therefore, you will increase the hitch height of the fifth wheel hitch by 2-3/4" or 2" depending on which options you go with.

The dimensions of the actual locks which insert into the pucks are not factored into the equation because they don't really affect the height.
