Reduced Capacity w/ Dual Hitch Extender

Question:

Hello, Im thinking of getting a new Rav4, and was wondering if this part will work to tow my 5x8foot mini camping trailer and a Yakima Hangover bike rack at the same time. My kids and I do a lot of mountain bike camping trips. I realize that the tongue weight and gross weight would be cut in half, but the trailer is only 750lbs, and the 3 bikes come in under 100lbs. Thanks

I would be happy to help you. I pulled a hitch for a 2021 Toyota RAV4 for reference. The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" item # DT82QR has a 4,500 lbs towing capacity and a 675 lbs tongue weight capacity. The Curt Dual Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 8" Extension item # D-192 will cut both of those capacities in half. The reduced capacities will still leave you with more than enough to tow your trailer and bike rack.

You will want to check the tongue weight and towing capacity of any vehicle you're looking to purchase to ensure you can still use your setup.
