Base Plate Kit For Toyota Tacoma

Question:

I saw that you have a base plate for Toyota Tacomas. I thought Toyota does not recommend flat towing a Tacoma even with a manual transmission. How can it be towed?

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX3622 that you linked to is for a Subaru not a Toyota but there is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX3795 that is fit guided for the Toyota.

While per the manufacturer, you should not attempt to flat tow a Toyota Tacoma, anything can be made to flat tow if you make enough changes. This is not the norm, and actually only very small percentage of people will go to this much trouble and expense to make a vehicle able to be flat towed, some do.

The Toyota is a body on frame design truck with rear wheel drive. It is frequently used by off-road enthusiast and heavily modified. Some of these very modified vehicles can be flat towed and sometimes need to be either flat towed or trailer towed because they are not street legal. A base plate kit that is mostly sold to support a vehicle that can be flat towed, such as the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX3795 for Jeeps, while not designed for the Toyota, will fit. So manufacturers will identify this for those that find it to be of value to them.
