Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Behind Motorhome

Question:

I have a 2022 Chevy Colorado with the ZR2 off-road package. I want to flat tow the truck behind my motorhome, but I don't know what parts I'd need to do this. Could you make some suggestions? Thank you

We'd be happy to help with that. As long as your Colorado has a transfer case that has a Neutral and a 4 wheel low position, it can indeed be flat towed.

For base plates, I'd recommend the Roadmaster Direct Connect base plate kit, part # RM78VR which Roadmaster confirms is compatible with the ZR2 package. For a tow bar, I'd recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain tow bar, part # RM-522. You'll also need # RM-643 safety cables.

To wire the taillights, use the # RM-152-98146-7 diode kit. For a supplemental braking kit I like a permanently installed braking system like the Demco Stay in Play or Air Force One. For motorhomes with hydraulic brakes, use the # SM99251 Stay In Play or the # SM99243 Air Force One for motorhomes with air brakes.

You'll also need a # RM-766 battery disconnect per the owner's manual as well as a # RM-751472 stoplight switch kit.

Finally, if the installed height of the base plates has a height difference compared to the receiver on the motorhome greater than 3 inches, you'll need to use a high/low adapter to bring the height difference within 3 inches. I'll link to our selection of adapters, as well as to a help article that shows how to measure to determine the height difference.

I've also linked to some installation videos and instructions that you'll likely find helpful.
