Troubleshooting Brakes Not Engaging When Brake Pedal Pressed With Hopkins Agility Brake Controller
Question:
99 Dodge Ram 2500. Installed this brake controller on my truck. Doesnt work when press the brake. If I press the override button the trailer brakes work. If I press the brakes then move the controller up or down it will start working. Let off the brakes and press them again then it wont work until I move it again. Tried buying another agility controller and its doing the same thing? Thanks

Based on the fact that the manual override is functioning, and you have also installed a 2nd Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller, it sounds like you might be testing it while you are parked. Since this is a proportional brake controller you need to be moving for the brakes to be applied. The manual override will work whether you are parked or moving, and is still overriding the brakes while you are using your brake pedal.
If that is not the case, I recommend checking to make sure your brake light switch is working and the brake lights are functioning. You could also unplug the wiring harness and plug it back in to ensure it is seated properly.
I have attached a helpful article on troubleshooting brake controller installations for your reference.
