2017 Kia Soul Flat Towing Requirements And Specifications
Question:
I am wiring my 2017 Kia for toad. Question 1: I have installed the C63R Curt 58979 RV harness, which has diodes. Is there any reason to install any more diodes in the system? Question 2: My Kia has separate bulbs for turn and brakes. The brake lights do go on when the key is turned off. I am using an RVi3 braking system which does push on the brake pedal. Do I need to install the RV88400 relay? Question 3: My lights are all LED. I read somewhere that this can be problematic, but I don’t know why. Is there anything I need to do for the LED’s to work? Question 4: There are three tail light bulbs on each side, plus the brake light bar on the top. Only one of the three tail light bulbs on each side functions as combination tail/stop. The other two function only as tail lights. How should these all be connected to the wiring harness to work properly? Thanks

So, in regards to your 2017 Kia Soul, along with # HM47085 and # C63CR you already have, you should not need any more diodes for your vehicle.
Since you mentioned your lights stay on after the ignition is turned off, yes, you are going to need a brake light relay kit like the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400.
I have not heard of the LEDs being an issue on the Kia Soul, as far as I know.
If your lights are not functioning as they are intended you likely have a wire going to the wrong location or you may have some insufficient connections. I have included a FAQ for you to check out, shedding some light on wiring your tow vehicle.
