Is A 4-Way Connector Enough To Power A Brake Controller On My 2019 Ford Ranger
Question:
I’ve just purchased the tow-pro elite for my 2019 Ford ranger as I watched a YouTube video on the install online with one of your techs, my question is I have a xl model that didn’t come with the 7 pin already and I don’t see the wires under the dash like in the video and I’ve started reading online information and it seems I’m getting a lot of mixed info so can you let me know if this will work on my ranger so I’ll know if I need to return it or not.

Your 2019 Ford Ranger, even if it comes with a tow package, does not come with a 7-way connector on your vehicle. If you have a 4-way connector on your Ford Ranger, when you tow a trailer it will be able to mirror the lights on your vehicle. When the 4-way on your Ranger is connected to a trailer your trailer will mirror the brake lights, turn signals, and running lights of your Ranger. You need a 7-way connector to have the power for a brake controller, mirror your reverse lights, and have 12V power. In order to use your Tow Pro Elite, I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, part # ETBC7. Once this wiring kit has been involved you will have power for your brake controller.
I have included a product description link and an installation video link below.
