Why Can't I Open The Moon Roof On My Escape After I Install The Thule Roof Rack?
Question:
Why should you keep the moonroof closed at all times after installing crossbars as recommended?
asked by: Shepard M
Expert Reply:
With the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711420 and Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401 installed on a 2017 Ford Escape the moonroof should remain closed to ensure that the glass does not get damaged. Since the glass moves up and back along your roof it is possible for it to contact gear on your roof rack. Since several accessories will clamp around the roof cross bars and hand below the cross bars there is a risk of the window hitting this and possibly shattering. For this reason Thule recommends to always keep the roof closed while the bars are mounted.
