Questions on the Yakima ReelDeal Rooftop Fishing Rod Carrier
Question:
Why do you need to disassemble surf rods for this carrier? That defeats the purpose of carrying longer rods without breaking them down. Also, does the lift kit for clearance come with the unit? Id prefer my tells under the rack between it and the roof.

The Yakima ReelDeal Rooftop Fishing Rod Carrier, # Y04089 mounts directly above the crossbars of your vehicle. This means the cross bars determine the placement/spread between the two clamps. So when it is stated to break down rods longer than 7 feet, this is a cautionary statement due to the flex of rods on that forward clamp. Some rods may have too much flex fom the headwinds and cause issues while driving. The # Y04089 comes with needed mounting hardware that has adjustments available. However, there is also available, sold separately, the Lift Brackets for Yakima ReelDeal or Big PowderHound and PowderHound Carriers, # Y8860037 that provides added clearance.
