Can I Remove And Replace The Locking Knob On My Swagman Original 2 Bike Rack
Question:
I havent used the actual lock since I lost my key last year. The knob locked itself on my way home last night. I had to remove the carrier to get my bike off the truck. Can I get a replacement key or how can I get the knob off the rack to release my bike? Im happy to order a new locking knob if the new key fits the old lock. Any ideas?

I can help you remove this from your Swagman Original 2 Bike Rack. But since Swagman does not sell replacement stand alone keys, you will have to replace the entire locking knob. The ,Replacement Locking Knob for Swagman Original and XP Series Bike Carriers - 2009 and Newer, part # P1040, will replace the knob on your rack. In order to remove your existing lock, Swagman suggests to use a pair of needle nose plyers. On the backside of the locking knob attach the plyers around the threaded portion and twist it until it releases. Once you have removed the old lock, you can replace it with the new one.
