Can 4-Leaf Spring for 5,000 Pound Axle Be Replaced With 5-Leaf Spring for 6,000 Pound Axle

Question:

I have a 2020 coachman freedom express 326bhdsle trailer with 5k dexter axles. The current leaf springs look flat after a year of travel. The current springs are 4 leaf and are 25.25” from bolt hole to bolt hole. Can I upgrade these springs to 5 leaf 6k axles springs? Thanks

The overall spring weight rating should not be greater than the trailer's weight capacity. Although they would fit, adding springs like the 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # e34SR can result in a stiffer ride and will provide no benefit from the additional capacity.

Assuming you accounted for the spring elongating, or as you said looking flat from wear, the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # e44SR is the correct replacement for your current springs.

I have attached a review video along with a helpful article on double-eye trailer suspension for your reference.
