How to Choose Correct Replacement Trailer Axle for 12K Gooseneck Trailer

Question:

I have a gooseneck trailer rated at 12,000 lbs. One axle broke in half from age when buying axles do I look at 6000 lb. rated axle? Thanks.

Yes, that sounds about right. If your 12,000 lb gooseneck trailer has 2 axles then that would mean you need an axle rated for around 6,000 lbs. It would be best to check the tag on your axle or on the front of your trailer to double check too just to be on the safe side.

When choosing a replacement axle you also need to check the hub-face and spring-center measurements so that they match what you currently have. For example, the 6K Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles # 8327826 has a hub-face measurement of 86-1/2" while the spring-center measurement is 71-1/2" (see attached).

I've attached a link to our selection of replacement axles for you to filter through.
