Troubleshooting Tekonsha Prodigy Only Has a Dim Yellow Light and 0.4 Volts Output To Trailer Brakes
Question:
I measure 12+ volts on black and red wires when mashing down brake pedal but only 0.4 volts on the blue wire. Ive set the gain on max setting and leveled. It an old tekonsha Voyager model that was working a couple months ago. Should I just get a new controller?

With the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 being a proportional controller it will only send power to the trailer brakes when it senses the inertia of the vehicle stopping. It sounds like you are testing it sitting still which is the most likely reason that you are getting the 0.4 volts.
If you use the manual override with the brakes set to max, you should see the battery voltage on the blue wire going to the trailer brakes. If that works you can also hook the Multimeter # PT89ZR up and have a passenger check the voltage while driving to see if the voltage changes when you apply the brake pedal and the controller senses the inertia of stopping.
If you do not have voltage with the manual override you may have a bad wire connection on your connector, or a faulty controller. Let me know what you find and I can help you troubleshoot from there or recommend a new controller.
