I have a great catalytic converter option for you. Based on my research, I confirmed with Magnaflow that the only way to figure out if the MagnaFlow Stainless Steel Catalytic Converter - Universal - California Approved MF33007 will fit your 1997 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 engine is by providing your EFN (Engine Family Number). If you know that number, feel free to respond to this answer with that information. The tag with that number is commonly found near the radiator shroud under the hood.

However, if you do not need a catalytic converter that adheres to some states' emissions laws, I do have one that definitely fits your vehicle. That is the MagnaFlow Heavy Metal Loaded, Stainless Steel Catalytic Converter # MF99005HM. This converter comes with a center to center inlet/outlet and includes an inlet/outlet diameter of 2-1/4 inches. Please note that this particular converter cannot be shipped to or legally used in California, Colorado, Maine, or New York.
