Is There Risk of Oil Lines from Derale Oil Cooler # D15405 Blowing Out From Oil Pressure
Question:
I need to install a oil cooler my concern is that they all seem to have rubber clamp hoses to the cooler from the sandwich adapter is there not danger of these lines blowing with a high volume pump?

Expert Reply:
Reinforced rubber oil lines and steel ring clamps are supplied with most oil coolers. This type of hardware is more than adequate for such applications. Even a high-volume oil pump will not even begin to approach the burst point for such hoses, which are rated at 300 psi.
Keep in mind that as the oil cooler reduces your oil (and engine) temperature the thermal stress on all oil lines (and coolant hoses) will be reduced to some degree. The reduction in oil temperature, which can be as much as 50 degrees, can also result in a slight but useful reduction in oil pressure.
I have included an informational article concerning oil coolers that might be helpful to you.
