Can Toggle Switch Be Used To Turn Jensen RV Stereo JWM62A On Or Off?
Question:
Jensen JWM62A replaces the AWM960 unit on my 2008 Winnabago Sightseer motor home. Old AWM960 has two power wires.1 is Ignition and the other is for coach battery operation at a campsite so you dont leave the ignition switch on to power the unit. The new Jensen JWM62A only has one power wire. Do I bug all three all three wires together? The 2 old power wires and the one power on new radio when I splice the old unit wires to the new unit wires? I have been trying to get an answer for 2 weeks now. I dont want to hurt the radio by experimenting and dont want to leave the ignition switch on while camping.

Per the manual and engineering print, the Jensen RV Stereo, # JWM60A should be wired to IGN circuit. However, if you wish to wire it to constant, you can. But only using the constant wire behind the radio and not the ACC/IGN wire, do not tie ACC and Constant together. It is suggested that you should install a switch in the dash on that line to the radio, that way it does not drain the battery when not using the radio. There is a super capacitor within the stereo to retain memory.
The # JWM60A and JWM62A are the same unit, the difference in part number is only to identify country of origin (JWM60A is made in China, JWM62A is made in Malaysia).
