Can The Jaws In The B&W Companion Be Adjusted For A Tighter Fit
Question:
The trailer is bouncing inside the hitch. I commercially haul 5tg wheel trailers across the country and just recently seems to be a good amount of slop in the hitch. Is the adjustable or do I need to rebuild the jaws?

I spoke with B&W and there are a couple things to double check. The jaws on their Companion # BWRVK3500 are not adjustable, but there is a spring in the middle of them and you will need to make sure that is still there. Next, you will need to make sure that the large bolt in the middle is tight. This can get a little loose over time and can also cause the slop you are getting.
With that being said, if the spring is still there and the bolt is nice and tight, you may want to contact B&W directly. These carry a lifetime warranty and something like this may be covered. If it is not, we do have the Replacement Head Assembly # BWRVC3006 that will get you back up and running. Unfortunately, jaw rebuild kits are not currently offered.
