Compatibility of Roadmaster RM65FR D-Ring Adapter for Aftermarket Bumper on 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ

Question:

I have a 20 year old Roadmaster Falcon2 tow bar that has never let me down. I now have a 2005 jeep wrangler with the off road bumber with D tabs. I want to tow this vehicle behind my MH. Will this adapter work for that? If so, how? I have the end off of one of the tow bar trailing arms and cant quite understand how this part adapts.

The Roadmaster # RM65FR is compatible if the tabs your D-rings attach to are 1 inch thick. The adapter would simply replace the existing ends on your Falcon 2 tow bar. Remove the existing ends, and the adapter slips over the end of the bar and is secured with the included pin.

There's one caution you'll need to know about, though. You'll need to make sure that the aftermarket bumper you have is rated for towing the vehicle. Not all bumpers are so rated, so for safety's sake you'll want to make sure.

To safely flat tow your Wrangler TJ, you'll need a few other items if you don't already have them:

• Safety cables such as # RM-643
• Flat tow wiring harness kit, part # RM-15267
• Supplemental Braking system like Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR
• Brake Lite Relay kit, part # RM-88400

If the height of the D-rings has more than a 3 inch height difference compared to the receiver height of the motorhome, you'll need a high/low adapter to bring the heights within 3 inches of each other. I'll link to a help article that explains how to measure for the height difference as well as to our selection of adapters.
