What Pattern Tire Chain Do Your Recommend For My 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD Towing A 5th Wheel
Question:
What pattern and type of snow chain should I put on my stock 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD 2WD to tow a fifth wheel?

Tire chains typically come in two patterns, diamond and square. Diamond shaped tire chains will give you a smoother ride and square chains will typically be more durable and provide better traction. Chains do not come in a one size fits all configuration. You will have to choose a chain that fits your needs. I am partial to diamond shaped chains for the smoother ride. My tire chain recommendation is the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit XXL - Size K77, part # TH02230K77. These are diamond shaped tire chains that are self tensioning. They do not cover the back of the tire, so the wheel well and any brake lines that are on the back side of the tire will be protected.
Another option is the Pewag Snox Pro Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair. part # PWSXV590. This is a Class S compatible tire chain, meaning that it designed to not interfere with any wires or lines on the back side of your vehicle's wheels.
I have included a product description link, a weblink of all the tire chains that fit your vehicle, and video reviews below.
