Do I Need a 5th Wheel Slider In My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 w/ OEM Prep Package and Short Bed
Question:
I have a 2022 Chevy 2500 with the puck system in the bed. It is the standard size truck bed, do I need a slider to tow my 5th wheel trailer?

We still recommend the use of a slider in all standard/short bed trucks. That being said, the new GM trucks like your 2022 Chevrolet 2500 do have a slightly longer bed than the typical standard bed. The best thing you can do is to measure to see if you have the proper clearance needed without a slider. You can do this by taking A = Distance from center of fifth wheel hitch jaw to truck cab and subtracting C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half). So A - C= your clearance. You need at least 4" of clearance to safely make a 90 degree turn.
If you take your measurements and do not have the proper clearance, I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3775. This hitch is sourced and made in the USA and will drop into the factory puck system for an easy installation. It has a rail free design that will allow for full use of your truck bed when the hitch is removed and 3 Height settings so that you can be sure it fits your needs.
I also recommend the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # HM54FR. This is going to allow you to move your 7-way plug up into the bed of your truck while maintaining use of the factory 7-way at the rear of your vehicle. This is going to allow for a much easier hook up of your 5th wheels wiring.
