Will The Demco Rail Adapter DM6333 Installed On A 2020 GMC 3500HD Make Contact With The Bed Floor

Question:

I installed the DM6333 in the bed of my 2020 GMC 3500 and with some slight adjustments, it ped into all 4 pucks with no problem. After measuring to ensure it was square in the bed, I torqued all the mounting bolds to spec per the datasheet. I have a DEMCO 18KLBS autoslider mounted on the DM6333. Had no issues. My only question is I noticed that the DM6333s frame does not make contact with the bed of the truck, just the puck mounting system. So it appears that he entire weight of the 5th wheel will be on the 4 pucks. Is that out this is designed? I would think that the weight would be distributed over the entire frame of the DM6333. Previously I had the autoslider hitch mounted in a 2015 2500HD standard box, and there was no puck system, so it was mounted above the bed on the bedrail system. It sat much lower so that I could cover my bed. On the 3500 HD Standard box, it sits about a 1/2 inch higher, and without the 5th wheel attached, I cannot cover the bed. I am just making sure that the system is installed properly so I can safely pull the trailer. I have not pulled it yet with the 3500 HD, but plan to do so very soon. Thank You.

I spoke with Demco and they said 5th Wheel Rail Adapter # DM6333 not making contact with the truck bed is completely normal. In the trucks with the puck systems, the design by the manufacturers is for the puck system to carry the pin weight. This is due to the framework under the bed being much stronger than the actual bed floor. So with all that being said, the Demco brackets are designed not to sit on the bed floor.
