Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2008 H3 Towing a Boat Trailer with a 5-Way
Question:
I have a Drawtite hitch on my 2008 H3. I bought a boat and need to connect the trailer brake and lights to my H3. However, I cannot find any wires near the hitch and I dont know what exactly to do. I called uhaul and they said they dont do H3 tow wiring. So do you know what I need to buy and if this is pretty easy to install or pretty hard. My boat trailer has a 5 wire connector for brakes and lights. Thanks

I can help, you will need to order a Draw-Tite Wiring Harness # 81252. This is a hardwire kit that will require you to use the included circuit tester to determine the functions of your tail light wiring harness and wire them to the # 18252 accordingly. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product for you to check out as well.
Once that is installed you will have a 4-way. Now you will need to convert this to a 5-way, in order to do that you will need a Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 47515. This will tap into the reverse light circuit of your H3 and will work to activate the reverse lockout solenoid of your surge brakes. I attached an install video for this product as well.
