We can get you all the parts needed to flat tow your 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 that has a gas engine, and what you will need for that model is a base plate from Roadmaster, as well as a tow bar, wiring, and braking system. I'll go ahead and list out all the parts you need below:
- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523199-5
- Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152
- Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR
OR
- If your motorhome has air brakes: Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # DM26VR
- (Optional) Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4750
The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates are great because they have removable tabs which means your Silverado is going to keep its clean look when you aren't flat towing. The NightHawk tow bar is a great option because it has long arms which make it easier to maneuver when towing, is simple to use with latches that allow you to disconnect even when you aren't level, and comes with integrated safety cables and wiring connectors so you won't have to purchase them separately, saving you additional expenses.
The diode wiring kit is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your Chevy's electrical system safe, and the battery disconnect allows you to just press a button to disconnect your battery so you don't have to open the hood and mess with the cables each time you are towing. And while it is optional, I do recommend the the Protective Screening in order to keep rocks and other debris from hitting your Silverado while you are flat towing it.
As for the braking systems, both the Stay-IN-Play DUO and Air Force One are highly recommended because they are one-time installs which will never require any type of removal or reactivation, and both give you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. This results in much smoother braking than most systems which send out a pre-set amount of braking power and thus are more rigid.
