Recommended Parts Needed to Flat towing a 2004 Jeep Wrangler With a Holiday Rambler Vacationer RV

Question:

I just purchased an 04 Wrangler that has a stock front bumper. Which products would you recommend to set up the jeep to flat tow being as price conscious as possible. Thanks in advance for your prompt response.

For your 2004 Jeep Wrangler(without front leaf springs or right hand drive) I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate # RM-521424-5. This will allow for you to use their Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522. While these are not the most price conscious set up they will save you time and headaches in the future. The tow bars will connect directly to the removable arms of the base plate with no cross bar required. The bars also have channels that protect your wiring and safety cables from dragging on the ground or getting caught on road debris while you drive. And as the tow bars are non binding so you will be able to more easily remove the bars when you get to where you are going.

You will need the RoadMaster Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit # RM-9243-1 that will provide you with the safety cables, locks, wiring and connectors needed to run the lighting on your Jeep. The Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit # HM56202 will allow for you to simply plug in to your factory tail light connectors so you do not have to splice the wiring at the connectors or drill holes into your tail light housing.

The Brake Buddy Classic 3 # HM39494 is a portable braking system that can easily be moved to different vehicles if you switch vehicles. I do know that there are a lot of people who think that they don't need this but I recommend checking the laws where you intend to operate your Holiday Rambler Vacationer with your Jeep connected as most states require braking devices on trailers or towed vehicles over 3,000lbs.

Once you have the baseplate installed on your Jeep you will need to determine how much vertical height difference there is between your receiver on your Vacationer and the base plate arms on your Jeep. The tow bars want to see no more than 3" of height variation between these 2 points. If you have more than 3" you will need an adapter like the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-4. This particular adapter will provide you with a rise or drop of 4".
