Installing Longview Towing Mirrors on a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
Question:
Tried to install the LVT-1600 longview on my truck, but it seems to not slip on enough for the hook to slip over the mirror. I have three pads on the inside that seem to be restricting the mirror from slipping on far enough. I only need about a 1/2 inch more to make it fit. Do I need all three pads? Your instructions show only a felt pad on the inside. I hate to push any harder on my mirror.

There is some foam inside the towing mirror housing for # CTM1600 to protect the factory mirror. The foam should compress when pushing the towing mirror on. The outer edge of the factory mirror should be close to the contour of the towing mirror. It sounds like you may have the hardware off a little. Take a look at the video I have linked showing a typical installation.
First, if your mirrors are different than those in the video, that could be why the towing mirrors are not fitting. The other thing to look closely at in the video is how the hardware goes on. That extra 1/2 inch you need might just be because the hardware is not installed quite right. You should not have to excessively push on the mirror to get it into place.
