Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2020 Ram 1500 - Air Bags or Sumo Springs
Question:
Since my original questions was sent I have also checked into air bags. Considering that the dry weight of the RV is 6845# with a hitch weight of 690# would air bags be an even better option? I was trying to avoid them due to possible leaks and increased installation costs. It should also be noted that the underneath storage is in the front of the RV. The fresh water tank is also in the front. I put no more than 10 gallons of water in this tank when traveling.

As you've mentioned, air bags would be an option for your 2020 Ram 1500 that will provide you with the ability to inflate the air bags to different pressures, which means a stiffer or softer ride depending on the air pressure. They're a really great option if you're ok with the more in depth installation and the other draw back is that in order to have the best experience using them, you'll likely also want to add an on board compressor system. As long as they're installed properly, leaks on the bags aren't terribly common and the bags can be replaced if damaged. If you do a lot of towing and also use your truck for carrying loads in the truck bed, I think it's definitely worth the added cost.
If you wanted to go the air bag route, I recommend using the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with Internal Jounce Bumpers - Rear Axle # AL88375, which have an added layer of protection for the air bags because of the internal jounce bumpers. These bumpers help prevent the bags from completely compressing and popping the bag. These air bags also require some drilling for installation, so it's not going to be a simple bolt on installation like Sumo Springs or Timbren jounce bumpers would be.
The Air Lift # AL88375 do come with manual inflation valves that can be installed in the wheel wells or on the bumper, but the best solution is to go with an on-board compressor system like the Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor System for Air Helper Springs - Remote - Bluetooth - EZ Mount # AL25980EZ. This system has a wireless remote control to inflate the air bags or deflate them as needed, so it gives you the ultimate solution to control your ride quality.
If you're ok with the work required to get everything installed these would absolutely be the best available solution, but if you're looking for something low maintenance I recommend going with the Sumo Springs # SSR-307-47.
