Is Sealant Required for the Replacement Rubber Grommet for RV Black Water Tanks

Question:

Hi. Ive read conflicting opinions on applying a sealant to the groove where the grommet sandwiches the tank wall. Is using a sealant advisable? Thank you!

Expert Reply:

In order to help prevent leaking between the grommet and tank on the Replacement Rubber Grommet for RV Black Water Tanks part # F02-2106 it would be wise to use a sealant like part # LT37467 between the two surfaces. I am not sure if this is a requirement or not but it won't hurt. That said, you wouldn't need any sealant for the pipe side, just a hose clamp like part # H03-0018.
