Troubleshooting A Furrion Chill Replacement RV Air Conditioner That Wont Run On Generator Power
Question:
I recently purchased and installed the furrion to replace the coleman mach unit. I used the adapter kit and the install was straight forward on my 2017 winnie vista unit. All is well while using shore power. However, the unit will not function during generator power source. I get no response from the thermostat while generator is running. Do I need to change the wiring? Is it a power source or thermostat issue? Do I need to replace the controller or the thermostat with the furrion products? If so, why? I thought the adapter cable harness would solve any issue. Please advise how trouble shoot and fix.

Since everything is working when hooked up to shore power the generator power is most likely the issue. The Furrion Chill Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Coleman Setup # FR42PV is going to require 3,000 watts starting power and 1,620 watts running power.
If your generator doesn't have the capacity for that then I recommend the 4,500-Watt Portable RV Generator # 333-0005. This generator is rated for 4,500 starting watts and 3,600 running watts and can run off of propane or gas. It has an electric start which makes it as simple as pressing a button to start up.
If your generator is rated high enough to power the AC unit then reply back and we can further troubleshoot this issue.
