Powering A Brake Buddy Portable Supplemental Braking System While Flat Towing A 2018 Ford F-150

Question:

Do you know if placing a 2018 Ford F150 in flat tow mode maintains power to the 12 v outlets so my brake buddy will have power? I have installed your charge line kit. The owners manual is silent on this.

The battery on a 2018 Ford F-150 doesn't need to be disconnected in order to flat tow so you will still have power running to your 12v outlets, however the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524 will be wired directly to the battery so you won't have to use the 12v outlets in your vehicle to power the unit. The remote that you'll keep in your RV will be powered through a 12v outlet though. The included charge line kit that comes with the Brake Buddy will send 15amps from your RV to charge your vehicle's battery while you tow so you don't arrive at your destination with a dead battery.
