Replacement 7-Way Connector For 2006 Toyota Tacoma With Factory 7-Way
Question:
I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L V6 Double cab, with the tow package and factory 7 blade connector. I am looking at replacing my factory installed hitch with the #13323 Curt Hitch due to rusting issues and wanted to replace the factory installed 7 blade connector at the same time with the #HM40975. Would the #HM40975 be a good replacement and work with my current wiring harness?

While we have an option for you to replace the factory 7-way on your 2006 Toyota Tacoma, the Hopkins # HM40975 by itself won't work because the plug on your Tacoma is different. There actually isn't just a plug-in connector so what you would need to do is replace both the plug and lead, which would mean some wiring is needed, so you can use the following:
- 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets w/ Mounting Bracket and Wiring # HM40975-11998
So you'd need to cut off your current 7-way at the plug and you would splice in this wiring harness, which connects to the mounting bracket.
