Replacement Brake Assemblies for Dexter Axles on TrailKing TK8U
Question:
I have a TrailKing TK8U trailer with two Dexter axles. The front axle was retrofitted to electric brakes, and the surge brake setup was removed before I bought it. I would like to replace all four electric brake assemblies. Unfortunately I dont know the age of the trailer as it has no VIN tag that I can find. One of the axles has a band on it that says Dexter and SM-5A. The drums appear to be 10X2-1/4. Im sure it wasnt made after 2009, so Im thinking it needs the older K23-454 and matching K23-455 brake assemblies. Do you guys carry a set that will fit?

Since we know you have a Dexter axle setup and the current assemblies are 10 inch by 2-1/4 inch we know that the correct brake assemblies you'd need are the # 23-468-469 for a set that includes a left and a right which are self-adjusting. The part number # 23-454-455 would be if you had the older 4,400 lb axles which are quite a bit rarer.
Measure the diameter of the axle and if it's 2-3/8 inch that would verify it's a 3,500 lb axle and correct kit would be # 23-468-469.
