Light Kit Wiring Harness to Flat Tow a 2002 Nissan Xterra Behind a Motor Home
Question:
will it work are will computer shut you down when you cut wire

Before doing any cutting and splicing of the vehicle tail light wiring, you should remove the negative battery cable from the battery to avoid causing errors. There are several lighting kits available for your Nissan Xterra and I have included a link to them for you.
If you want to avoid cutting the vehicle wiring altogether then use a bulb and socket kit like # RM-155, or a magnetic light kit.
be sure to consult the Xterra owners manual to determine if the vehicle can be flat towed and for the proper flat towing procedure. You will also need base plates, like # 327-3, and a compatible tow bar. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. For safety cables use # RM-643.
Most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. This system will apply the Xterra brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
I have included some helpful links on flat towing for you.
