How Do I Connect A1000w Inverter To My Two 6V Batteries Connected In Series  

Question:

My current battery bank ia 2-12v batteries in parallel with a 1000w inverter added. What needs to be done to change the battery bank from the 2-12v batteries in parallel to 2-6v batteries in series. It sounds like it should be easy but the more I read the more confused I get.lol

When batteries are connected in parallel the negative terminals are connected together and the positive terminals are connected together. The negative current that comes into your battery bank flows into the negative terminals and the positive current flows from the positive terminals of your battery bank.

If you want to connect your new batteries in series, you will be connecting one of your battery's positive terminal to the second battery's negative terminal. The current into the battery will be connected as normal. For example, if you were using the Power Inverter 1000 Watts with Three AC Receptacles, part # WC3720, the positive current from the inverter will be connected to the remaining positive terminal of the battery and the negative terminal will connect to the ground of the inverter. Connecting two 6V batteries in series will provide 12V.
