How to Determine Tailgate Clearance of 2019 Ford F-350 With B&W Companion Slider For Puck System
Question:
I have a 2019 Ford F350 with the 6-3/4 ft bed. How close will my morryde rubber pinbox come to the tailgate when the hitch is in the rearward sliding position? I am concerned about clearance. Also, how do I measure to ensure the tailgate of the F350 will open without contacting the fifth wheel when the hitch is in the forward position?

While we don't have those numbers, we can tell you exactly how to determine the clearance you'll have from your pin box to the tailgate of your 2019 Ford F-350 with the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3370.
The Companion # BWRVK3370 will slide 12 inches from the when in the sliding position (you can use the gooseneck hole in your truck and measure 12 inches from that closer to the tailgate) and the hitch will sit a maximum of 19 inches high, which is taller than most. Then you'll want to put your 5th wheel trailer in position like you were coupling, and measure to the closest part of your pin box.
This can be somewhat tricky to do without the hitch so it may not be 100 percent exact, but the measurements should be close and give you a good idea of what kind of clearance you have. You will want to have at least 6 inches of clearance, and if you don't, I highly recommend a 5th wheel tailgate for your 2019 Ford F-350:
- Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock for Ford Trucks # VG-15-4000
This tailgate has a cut out in the middle that will allow the needed clearance from the pin box for your truck. I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well if you'd like to take a look.
